Washington University orthopedic surgeon Munish Gupta, MD, is the chief of pediatric and adult spinal surgery, as well as the co-director of the pediatric and adult spinal deformity service. His areas of interest include complex spinal reconstructive surgery for all spinal deformities, spinal revision surgery and spinal tumors.
In Istanbul, Turkey, Dr. Munish C. Gupta is a Co-Chairman of the first international SRS Hands on Spine Course. The course had faculty and participants from all over the world. It was taught at Acibadem University.

Dr. Munish Gupta speaks at the North American Spine Society Meeting in Chicago about his research in new state of the art treatment of spinal disorders. He has coauthored several other papers that are being presented at this conference.

This week I attended the 50th anniversary of the SRS during which we commemorated past leaders and pioneers of spinal surgery. As I spent time looking back at my 25 years in the field of spine surgery, I recalled two legends of spine surgery whose pictures I dusted off from my shelves. Dr. Robert B. Winter and Dr. Kenton D. Leatherman were pioneers of spinal deformity surgery. May they rest in peace.
September 30, 2015 — Dr. Gupta has been elected chairman of the fellowship committee in the Scoliosis Research Society.
