Dr. Gupta Teaches Courses at SRS 50th Annual Meeting

At the 50th Annual Meeting & Course of the Scoliosis Research Society, Dr. Munish C. Gupta teaches courses and presents his ongoing research. This year’s meeting takes place in Minneapolis, MN from September 30 to October 3. The purpose of the SRS annual meeting is to provide a forum for the realization of the Society’s mission and goals, to foster the optimal care of all patients with spinal deformities. Dr. Gupta will join other leading experts who treat spinal deformities at all levels and in patients of all ages.

Dr. Gupta Speaks at IMAST in Kuala Lampur

The 22nd International Meeting on Advanced Spine Techniques (IMAST) in Kuala Lampur included leading spine surgeons from all over the world. In this forum, spine surgeons discussed and demonstrated new spine techniques in order to improve patient care. Dr. Gupta had over 18 papers accepted and was a speaker in multiple sessions, and also taught hands-on workshops.

Dr. Munish Gupta Named as Chief of Spine Surgery

Dr. Gupta has been appointed professor and chief of spine surgery for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He will assume his new duties on September 1, 2015. Dr. Gupta succeeds Lawrence G. Lenke, MD, who has moved to ColumbiaDoctors and The Spine Hospital at NewYork-Presbyterian/Allen in New York, New York.

Dr. Gupta Helps Patients at Ganga Hospital in India

Dr. Munish Gupta visited Coimbatore, India, to operate on patients with severe scoliosis and to teach in a Scoliosis Research Society operative course at the Ganga Hospital. The course involved 25 surgeries demonstrated by 9 internationally renowned spinal surgeons, which attendees could observe, as well as lecture sessions on patient evaluation, technique and tips, and avoiding complications.

New Book on Spine Surgery Techniques

Their goal is to share complex procedures and the outcomes, both successful and unsuccessful, to promote the sharing of knowledge and experience in the world of spinal surgery. They plan to publish additional collections in the future, to keep up with changing and emerging techniques.

More than 40 surgeons have contributed case details for surgeries to correct early onset scoliosis, pediatric spinal deformity, adult spinal deformity, trauma and tumors, and cervical spine disorders. Each case is presented in a less-formal style to make reading easier, and includes more than 500 photos and illustrations.

Dr. Gupta Elected to SRS Board of Directors

September 30, 2013 — Dr. Gupta has been elected to the board of directors for the Scoliosis Research Society. SRS is an international society that was founded in 1966 with 35 members, and now includes over 1,000 of the world’s leading spine surgeons, researchers, physician assistants and orthotists who are involved in research and treatment of spinal deformities. It has gained recognition as one of the world’s premier spine societies. The SRS has maintained a commitment to research and education in the field of spinal deformities.
