Dr. Gupta’s recent research on spinal deformity treatment will be published in the November 15, 2015 online issue of Spine. The article is titled “Pedicle Subtraction Osteotomy (PSO) in the Revision versus Primary Adult Spinal Deformity (ASD) Patient: Is there a difference in correction and complications?” Spine is recognized internationally as the leading journal in the field of spinal disorders.

Most Pedicle Subtraction Osteotomy procedures are performed in revision surgeries for patients that have undergone multiple previous spinal procedures. More recently, surgeons have begun to employ PSO in primary deformity corrections. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the differences in the clinical and radiographic outcomes for patients undergoing PSO as a primary versus revision spine procedure at one year follow up, and to compare the complication rates between the two groups.

This research is the result of Dr. Gupta’s close collaboration with other spinal surgeons. Read more about Dr. Gupta’s spinal deformity research.
