This female patient in her 50’s had a progressive adult idiopathic scoliosis with a very painful lumbar curve.
She failed all non-operative measures.
She had a kyphotic lumbar spine in addition to her scoliosis. To gain a fusion and correction of her lumbar kyphosis, an anterior release with discectomies and a fusion of the lumbar spine was performed.
Same day a posterior approach was utilized to correct the lumbar deformity with further release and instrumentation.
The fusion was performed anteriorly and posterior extending from the thoracic spine to the ileum with local bone and allograft.
