50th Anniversary of the Scoliosis Research Society
This week I attended the 50th anniversary of the SRS during which we commemorated past leaders and pioneers of spinal surgery. As I spent time looking back at my 25 years in the field of spine surgery, I recalled two legends of spine surgery whose pictures I dusted off from my shelves. Dr. Robert B. Winter and Dr. Kenton D. Leatherman were pioneers of spinal deformity surgery. May they rest in peace.
Dr. Gupta to Chair SRS Fellowship Committee
September 30, 2015 — Dr. Gupta has been elected chairman of the fellowship committee in the Scoliosis Research Society.
Dr. Gupta Teaches Courses at SRS 50th Annual Meeting
At the 50th Annual Meeting & Course of the Scoliosis Research Society, Dr. Munish C. Gupta teaches courses and presents his ongoing research. This year’s meeting takes place in Minneapolis, MN from September 30 to October 3. The purpose of the SRS annual meeting is to provide a forum for the realization of the Society’s mission and goals, to foster the optimal care of all patients with spinal deformities. Dr. Gupta will join other leading experts who treat spinal deformities at all levels and in patients of all ages.
Spinal Deformity Article by Dr. Gupta To Be Published in SPINE
Dr. Gupta’s recent research on spinal deformity treatment will be published in the November 15, 2015 online issue of Spine. The article is titled “Pedicle Subtraction Osteotomy (PSO) in the Revision versus Primary Adult Spinal Deformity (ASD) Patient: Is there a difference in correction and complications?” Spine is recognized internationally as the leading journal in the field of spinal disorders.

Dr. Gupta Speaks at IMAST in Kuala Lampur
The 22nd International Meeting on Advanced Spine Techniques (IMAST) in Kuala Lampur included leading spine surgeons from all over the world. In this forum, spine surgeons discussed and demonstrated new spine techniques in order to improve patient care. Dr. Gupta had over 18 papers accepted and was a speaker in multiple sessions, and also taught hands-on workshops.
Dr. Munish Gupta Named as Chief of Spine Surgery
Dr. Gupta has been appointed professor and chief of spine surgery for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He will assume his new duties on September 1, 2015. Dr. Gupta succeeds Lawrence G. Lenke, MD, who has moved to ColumbiaDoctors and The Spine Hospital at NewYork-Presbyterian/Allen in New York, New York.
