This 66-year-old patient had progressive scoliosis.
Her back pain and leg became intolerable over time.
She had epidural injections and other non-operative treatments that all failed.
The lateral radiograph displays the thoracolumbar kyphotic deformity. She underwent an anterior release of the severe and rigid lumbar scoliotic deformity.
She then underwent a posterior release and correction with instrumentation and fusion.
